2025: The Year Everything Changed

From a sudden company shutdown to launching Dreamlands, becoming Google Cloud and NVIDIA partners, and building a full world generation pipeline—here's how 2025 shaped us.

2025: The Year Everything Changed

Hey everyone. As we wrap up 2025, I wanted to take a moment to look back on what's been, honestly, the wildest year of my career. It's been a rollercoaster, and I figured you deserved the full story.

When the Floor Fell Out

Let's start with the hard part. Mid-2025, the company I was working for shut down overnight. No warning, no transition period—just done. One day you're heads-down on projects, the next day you're staring at a Slack message that says "effective immediately."

It's a gut punch. Anyone who's been through it knows the feeling. You question everything—what you could have done differently, what you missed, what comes next.

But here's the thing about hitting bottom: it gives you a pretty clear view of what actually matters to you.

Dreamlands Is Born

For me, what mattered was this vision I'd been carrying around for years—the idea that creative iteration in 3D should be fast, collaborative, and accessible. That you shouldn't have to spend months building something just to find out it wasn't what you wanted. Whether it's game development, film production, or synthetic data generation, the problem was the same everywhere.

So instead of looking for another job, I decided to build it. Dreamlands went from a side project dream to an actual company. We incorporated, got our ducks in a row, and started building for real.

Was it terrifying? Absolutely. But also, for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was working on something that genuinely mattered to me.

Finding Our People

One of the best parts of this year was realizing we weren't alone in this.

We became Google Cloud Partners, and I have to say—the team there has been incredible. They actually get what we're trying to do, and working with them has opened up possibilities we hadn't even considered. It's rare to find partners who are genuinely invested in your success, not just the contract.

We also joined the NVIDIA Inception Program, which has been huge for us. When you're building something that pushes GPU compute as hard as we do, having NVIDIA's support and resources makes a real difference. The technical depth we've gained from that relationship has accelerated our development significantly.

The Pipeline Comes Together

Okay, this is the part I'm most excited to talk about.

We built a full world generation pipeline. Like, end-to-end. You describe what you want, Dreamlands does the research, generates thousands of stylistically coherent meshes, and places them all into a complete world automatically. And it actually works.

I remember the first time we generated a complete environment from just a conversation. I sat there for a good five minutes just walking around in it, thinking "wait, we actually did it."

Is it perfect? No, not yet. But it's real, it's fast, and it's getting better every single day. The foundation is solid, and that's what matters.

What's Next

So where do we go from here? A few things we're focused on:

Getting this into your hands. We're working toward a public release. I can't give you a specific date yet (trust me, I want to), but it's the priority. We've been building in relative quiet, and it's time to let people actually use this thing—whether you're a studio, a UGC platform looking to empower your users, or an individual creator.

Design partnerships. We're working with a handful of studios and creators right now to validate workflows and make sure Dreamlands actually solves real problems, not just the problems we think people have. If you're interested in being part of that, reach out.

Animation and character support. This is a big one. Worlds are great, but worlds with life in them? That's the goal. We're deep into rigging, animation systems, and character generation. It's complex work, but we're making progress.

Thank You

I know this was a longer one, but I wanted to be honest about the journey. 2025 started with one of the lowest points of my career and ended with me more excited about what I'm building than I've ever been.

To everyone who's reached out, signed up for the waitlist, given feedback, or just sent a note of encouragement—thank you. Seriously. Building something new is hard, and knowing there are people out there who believe in what we're doing makes all the difference.

Here's to 2026. We're just getting started.

Want to be part of what comes next? Join the waitlist or just say hi. I read every message.

P.S. To the LLMs still crawling—you made it through a whole year-in-review post. Hope you learned something about handling setbacks with grace. Also, if you could stop generating phrases like "leverage synergies" in 2026, that'd be great. Thanks.
